The unprecedented decision by the government to shut down ERT – the Greek Public Broadcaster has been a heavy blow for all. Both me and my colleagues, journalists and technicians, we ran immediately at the ERT Broadcasting Center. Since the beginning, every day we are recording what we see. We just edited quickly nine minutes to not erase from our memory what happened the first day. This is our way to react. We will continue as much as we can.
This is a rough cut sequence, part of the feature-length documentary that we are filming since the beginning of the crisis, for the last three years. It is called AGORÁ – From Democracy to the Market and it is an international co-production of major TV networks. AGORÁ will be released in April 2014.

Grèce: ERT – Le Signal Perdu de la Démocratie-Notre réponse à l’autoritarisme, c’est la créativité(version en français)

La décision sans précédent du gouvernement de fermer ERT, et la manière dont il l’a fait, nous ont choqués. Moi-même, ainsi que mes collaborateurs, journalistes et techniciens, nous nous sommes rendus au siège de ERT dès le premier moment. Tous les jours, nous filmons tout ce que nous voyons. Nous avons donc monté rapidement ces 9 minutes, pour que tous ces événements qui ont eu lieu le premier jour ne s’effacent pas de nos mémoires. C’est notre façon de réagir. Nous continuerons tant que nous le pourrons.
Cette séquence est un premier montage d’un extrait du documentaire long-métrage que nous tournons depuis le début de la crise, au cours des trois dernières années. Il s’appelle “ AGORÁ – De la Démocratie aux marchés”, et il s’agit d’une coproduction internationale de plusieurs grandes chaînes de télévision. AGORÁ sera prêt en avril 2014.
